Since announcing her departure from American Idol, Paula Abdul (left, on the set of Drop Dead Diva, courtesy of Lifetime Television) has become a hot commodity. She has a guest-starring role on the fabulous Lifetime series, Drop Dead Diva (Sept. 13 and Oct. 11).
There's talk that she just might show up on ABC's Dancing With the Stars, however in what capacity is not clear.
ABC Entertainment chief Steve McPherson said last week during TCA press tour that he thinks Paula is a huge talent and would love to have the former American Idol judge on DWTS in any capacity — as a judge or a participant.
Personally, I don't think it would be fair for her to compete at one of the contestants because of all the formal dance training she has had. To me, the show walks a fine line when they recruit gymnasts and skaters to compete, because that is an awful lot like dancing. The point of the show was (and still should be) to take a celebrity completely out of his/her element and try to turn him/her into a dancer. That's what is so exciting to watch.
We'll all find out which stars will be competing on the newest season of DWTS, as contestants for the show will be announced this Monday on Good Morning America.
