Diablo Cody Is Going to Sweet Valley High

According to the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, Oscar-winning screenwriter Diablo Cody is set to bring the Francine Pascal book series, Sweet Valley High, to the big screen. As any woman from the age of 20 to 40 can tell you, the books (the first of which, Double Love, was published in 1983, with 181 in total being published within the next 20 years by various ghostwriters) chronicle the lives of twin high school students Elizabeth and Jessica Wakefield.

Diablo is in talks with TPTB at Universal to transform the tales into a feature-length movie. The series was also on the small screen from 1994-97 (on Fox and UPN).
